Want to know how to shorten or hem jeans? You can basically use this process to hem any pants you would need to shorten the length.
I am shorter, so I normally need to look for petite length or shorten my jeans.
Follow this step by step guide on how to shorten jeans:
Step 1: Put your jeans on right side out. Cuff your jeans so that your old hem is where you want want your jeans to end.
*Skinny jeans should end at the top of your ankle
*Straight Leg jeans should end at the bottom of your ankle before your foot
*Ankle jeans will fall at the slimmest part of your ankle
Step 2: Use straight pins to pin your cuff vertical. You will want the top of the pins to line line up at the bottom of the fabric.
Step 3: Take your pants off and turn them inside out. Sew with a machine a straight line where the top of the pin heads are. Cut off the excess material above the hem you just sewed. * Leave 1/4 of an inch before the stitch line.
Step 4: Make a zigzag stitch at the edge to prevent the fabric from fraying.
Step 5: Turn your pants right side out again and iron the new hem so that the fabric lays flat.
You have now hemmed your pair of pants!! Congratulations!!
